Marc Purintun is the chair of Williams Mullen's Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice. His practice focuses on the design and implementation of all types of employee benefit programs, including qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, incentive plans, as well as a variety of welfare benefit arrangements including health, disability, cafeteria plans, flexible spending arrangements, retiree welfare benefit plans, severance plans and other employee benefit plans.
Marc regularly advises public and private sector clients with respect to the design, drafting and documentation of defined benefit plans, profit sharing plans, 401(k) plans, Section 403(b) tax-deferred annuity arrangements, long-term incentive plans, leveraged and non-leveraged ESOPs and Section 457 plans.
Marc counsels plan fiduciaries on their ERISA fiduciary responsibilities. Those would include matters related to the investment and monitoring of plan assets, the evaluation of service provider fee disclosures and compliance with applicable participant disclosure requirements. Marc has advised plan investment committees on best practices for plans that permit participant investments in a company stock fund.
Marc represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. Such representation assists plan sponsors with voluntary correction programs, the resolution of regulatory audits and obtaining administrative rulings, determinations and exemptions.
