She provides more than advice an accompaniment in a process of adaptation to new standards and determining regulatory risks with a clear orientation to the client’s business. She has been invited to legislative committees in the Chilean Congress, specifically during the processing of the bill on personal data.

Work Highlights

The work done in the last 7 years, has consolidated Alessandri legal in TMT which has generated a public recognition, based on the relationship of trust and as a business partner which clients, which allows an adequate legal advice with a special focus on risk management. The technology and data protection practice in Alessandri continues to grow, advising an increasing number of industries, such as healthcare, banks and financial services, insurance, retail, food and beverages, fintech, insurtech, education, real estate, marketing, security, automotive, entertainment, professional athletes, commercial aviation, software, technology, media and advertisement services, among others. For the past years we have seen an increase in cyber-attacks, which has resulted in the provision of services by Alessandri in relation to the investigation of the events, filing criminal lawsuits and the implementation of prevention and risk mitigation. This in turn has generated sectorial regulations regarding operational and cybersecurity risks management. From a legal point of view, we have advised banks and financial institutions, software and technology, entertainment, and insurance companies to implement governance to manage information security and cybersecurity risks.

Moreover, with Chat GPT and the boom of generative IA, Alessandri has been involved in the discussion regarding managing risk, regulations, and governance of IA. Particularly, we have been counseling clients designing and implementing a governance to enable a responsible AI.

With Macarena Gatica as leading partner, this practice group has managed to raise its potential and public recognition. She continues to be invited by the congress when bills of law related to data protection, cybersecurity, technology are discussed. She is a member of the board of directors of Amcham Chile she is a Data Privacy Law, Compliance and Fintech Law professor; member of IAPP, president (new) of the Self-regulation and ethics AMDD committee (Association of Data and Digital Marketing), and she is frequently invited as a key speaker to events related to data privacy, technology, and cybersecurity.
