Mr. Yáñez interned and worked as junior associate at Barrera, Siqueiros y Torres Landa, S.C. (now Hogan Lovells BSTL, S.C.) from 1988-1992. In 1992 Mr. Yáñez enrolled in the LL.M. (Master in Laws) Program of Columbia University’s Law School in New York City, graduating in 1993. Following this, Mr. Yañez joined a firm in Dallas, Texas as a foreign associate, returning to Mexico in 1994. Mr. Yáñez has been a part of the corporate and international trade practice groups of the firm, distributing his practice in multiple areas for the benefit of his corporate clients, with an emphasis in corporate/M&A, international trade and environmental/natural resources/energy.
Mr. Yáñez is a Partner with Ramos, Ripoll & Schuster, resident in Monterrey and Mexico City.

Experience
Ample experience in international trade practices, where he has represented both Mexican industries and foreign exporters in anti-dumping investigations against imports into Mexico of different products (livestock, beef, pork, poultry, fertilizers, chemicals, steel, hydrocarbon derivatives, etc.). These matters have required intensive lobbying with different agencies of the Mexican federal government like the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Agriculture and Live Stock, the Ministry of Finance (through the Revenue Administration Service), the Federal Economic Competition Commission, etc.
· Participated on behalf of interested parties in different conflict resolution panels under Chapter XIX of the North America Free Trade Agreement.
·Has advised clients in different international trade and customs projects and requirements like the set-up of Maquiladora operations in Mexico, customs-related administrative procedures and investigations, opinions on rules of origin and trade barriers, etc.
· Has worked with and advised with different U.S., Canadian, European and Asian clients on the acquisition of Mexican targets (share and asset deals), the negotiation of joint ventures, real estate transactions, and the set-up of operations in Mexico, among others, in different industrial and commercial sectors.
-Has managed the day-to-day legal requirements and activities of international clients with operations in Mexico.
·As relationship partner of numerous corporate clients (mostly international), has been in charge of managing or monitoring the work of other practice groups within the firm for such clients.
·Represented clients in the renewable energy industry with the set-up of subsidiaries in Mexico, the acquisition of Mexican targets and regulatory aspects of their operations.
·Represented financial institutions and foreign banks for the financing of projects and granting and registration of guarantees under loans granted to Mexican companies.
·Has provided advice in environmental matters for diverse industries (pharmaceutical, auto parts, renewable energy, etc.) with respect to environmental regulation in Mexico, including due diligence review and audits.
·Has represented clients before federal and state environmental agencies in different administrative matters (including litigation).
·Has represented clients in the hospitality/entertainment/gaming industry in the set-up of their operations in Mexico, including compliance investigations, gaming permits, supply of gaming equipment to permit holders, etc.
Advises corporate clients in immigration matters regarding their employees and personnel with frequent mobilization.
