Lucas Fajardo Gutiérrez

Partner at the Insurance and Reinsurance Team of Brigard Urrutia. He has advised several national and foreign companies in the insurance and reinsurance sector on corporate, contractual, and regulatory matters, as well as claims handling. He has provided support to major insurance and reinsurance groups in various matters before the Financial Superintendence, such as the incorporation of insurance companies and insurance and reinsurance brokers, approval of insurance lines of business, opening and liquidation of representative offices, approval of bancassurance contracts, and registration of foreign reinsurers and reinsurance brokers.

He has also advised multiple companies in the real sector on the procurement of insurance programs, ensuring proper coverage for the risks they face.

He served as president of INSURALEX, the largest global network of insurance and reinsurance law firms, with presence in Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East, and he is a member of the Colombian Association of Insurance Law – ACOLDESE.

Lucas is a lawyer from Universidad de los Andes. He holds a postgraduate degree in Insurance Law from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and in Transportation Law from Universidad Externado de Colombia. He graduated from the Master of Comparative and European Law program at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Additionally, he has been professor of insurance and reinsurance law at important universities in the country, in undergraduate and graduate programs.
