Lisa Zaccardelli is the Chair of the Labor and Employment Practice at Hinckley Allen and practices in all areas of civil litigation with a concentration on employment law litigation and commercial matters. She provides strategic, real-time counsel and advice to employers on matters related to disputes with their employees, and she has single-handedly handled cases involving claims of discrimination, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, and the ADA in jury trials, appeals, arbitrations, jury selections, and mediations. Among other areas of focus, Lisa’s expertise has protected healthcare providers and hospitals in the face of discrimination, retaliation, and breach of contract suits. She regularly defends clients before administrative agencies in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts and argues before the United States District Courts for the Districts of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and New York as well as the state courts in these and other jurisdictions.
A substantial part of Lisa’s practice includes non-compete, business tort, and trade secret litigation cases. Her extensive experience in the labor and employment arena shapes her detailed understanding of the inner workings of employment matters, all of which benefits her employer clients facing claims of employment discrimination, unfair labor practices, wage and hour disputes, retaliation claims, employee discipline, and internal investigations, among others. Lisa’s commercial litigation practice also encompasses eminent domain and tax abatement matters and includes representation of across industries including manufacturing, healthcare, banking and financial institutions, construction, privately held and family-owned businesses and education.
Lisa is active in the community and is called upon frequently to lecture about sexual harassment, diversity and inclusion, reasonable accommodations, and other management-level training programs. She regularly conducts seminars and training on sexual harassment, diversity, and ADA public accommodations for management of client companies. She serves as an Executive member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Hartford Legal Aid and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and is a member of the Council for Women of Boston College.
Lisa’s experience extends to the USLAW NETWORK (“USLAW”), where she is actively involved in the Labor and Employment Group as vice chair and previously held the roles of secretary and educational coordinator. The USLAW partnership allows Hinckley Allen to better serve its clients in commercial and business law, employment and labor law, litigation, and other business-related areas of law in areas outside the firm’s geographic footprint. USLAW is composed of more than 60 independent, full-service firms with a focus on civil litigation, including more than 6,000 attorneys across the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and Asia, and with affiliations in Africa and with TELFA in Europe.
Most recently, Lisa attended Harvard Law School’s Executive Education Leadership in Law Firms program. The esteemed program is for senior law firm leaders who want to hone their leadership skills and gain the concepts and tools needed to effectively drive strategy and lead teams. Lisa has been named a “Go To Lawyer” by the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly and is one of the Best Lawyers in America® in Commercial Litigation.
