Leon Kazakos KC’s practice spans business crime, general crime, regulatory proceedings, tax appeals, and police disciplinary work. Now in his fifth year in silk, he is ranked Band 2 for General and Financial Crime by Chambers and Partners and recognised by the Legal 500 in crime, business & regulatory crime, and fraud. Before silk, he was shortlisted for Crime Junior of the Year 2019 and ranked Band 1 for Crime by Chambers.
In business crime, he defends allegations including high-value fraud, corruption, misconduct in public office, tax evasion, money laundering, insolvency offences, FSMA breaches, and related misconduct. His general criminal practice covers homicide, human trafficking, serious drugs and firearms offences, and serious sexual offending. Regulatory work includes firearms licensing, planning breaches, wildlife offences under CITES, and health and safety matters. His tax work involves appeals to First and Upper Tier Tribunals, often concerning alleged evasion or dishonesty.
Leon advises and advocates in complex, sensitive cases, often from the pre-charge stage, representing individuals and companies. An accredited advocacy trainer, pupil supervisor, and facilitator, he lectures and trains solicitors and accountants. He was elected Lead of the South Eastern Circuit for 2023–24, is Vice Chair of the Kalisher Trust, and contributes to Butterworths Fraud Law, LexisNexis corporate crime, and Banks on Sentence.
