With significant experience in advising on the establishment of research centres, research funding, collaborative research, and technology licensing arrangements, Kylie is adept at navigating the intricate legal frameworks surrounding research and development.
She regularly performs due diligences and audits for clients as a precursor to the commercialisation of technology and delivers strategic IP protection and commercialisation advice. Kylie possesses a detailed understanding of the policy, probity, and process frameworks applicable to public sector clients and has been a pivotal adviser to the government on significant major projects and procurements, particularly those with a technology focus, as well as statutory powers and governance issues.
Kylie has also provided nearly two decades of advisory services to the higher education sector on a broad spectrum of commercial and regulatory matters, including compliance with higher education legislation. Her academic background, with an honours degree in both law and science (genetics) from the University of Melbourne and a masters of intellectual property law, also from the University of Melbourne, underpins her deep understanding of the intersection between law, science, and technology.
