Kelly Bourassa

Kelly is Co-Practice Group Leader of the Blakes Restructuring and Insolvency Group Blakes. She is widely regarded as a leading authority in restructuring and insolvency in Canada. Kelly brings exceptional expertise and strategic vision to every mandate. Her practice spans a broad spectrum of industries, and she consistently delivers outstanding results for public and private companies, financial institutions and other stakeholders in high-stakes insolvency proceedings.

Kelly has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta and Ontario. Notably, she has appeared twice before the Supreme Court of Canada, securing key decisions in matters of first impression that have shaped the legal landscape.

Kelly is President of the Insolvency Institute of Canada, Canada’s premiere private sector, invitation-only, organization dedicated to fostering excellence in insolvency law and practice. This appointment is particularly noteworthy as Kelly becomes only the second woman in the Institute’s history to hold this distinguished position, underscoring her exceptional leadership and contributions to the field.
