Kate is a specialist litigator and advisor on civil consumer regulatory law. She has particular expertise in financial services, including consumer credit and green energy consumer initiatives. Kate’s clients include financial institutions, energy and retail companies and she is experienced in acting for and against regulators.
Kate acts as a lead advocate and as a specialist bolt on junior in consumer finance and broader consumer and commercial litigation.
Kate has in-depth knowledge of all aspects of regulated lending, including authorisation, compliance and enforcement. She can advise on perimeter issues, ancillary activities such as credit broking and debt collecting, technical questions, (for example relating to interest rates and APRs) and enforceability risks. She has a long history of dealing with mis-selling claims, enforceability, unfairness and commission based challenges.
She also drafts and reviews suites of lending and hire documentation, including relating to novel lending products and tech based innovations. Kate deals with the full lifecycle of pre-contract, contract and post-contract loan and mortgage documentation, ensuring compliance with prescribed statutory information, statements and notices, FCA rules and guidance and unfair terms legislation.

She also advises on and assists with regulatory investigations and enforcement activity, including self-reporting obligations.
