He joined the firm in January 2025 after spending more than 13 years at the Warsaw office of Hogan Lovells, where he advised leading financial institutions—primarily insurance companies and banks—on a broad range of legal matters related to their day to day operations.
Karol Ruszkowski specialises in legal aspects of cooperation between insurers and banks (bancassurance). This refers to advising in relation to the structure and principles of such cooperation, introduction and modification of internal and external procedures, drafting of agreements and other relevant documents regulating such cooperation, assisting in negotiations between insurers and banks and drafting insurance documentation including general terms and conditions of insurance. Karol also advises in relation to the M&A transactions conducted on the insurance market.
Karol represents financial institutions in regulatory proceedings before the regulators, including the Commission for Financial Supervision (KNF) as well as the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK). He also successfully represents such clients in court proceedings, including common courts (civil proceedings), Supreme Court, the Court of Competition and Consumer Protection (SOKiK) as well as administrative courts.
Karol Ruszkowski has been also advising other participants performing their activities within financial markets, including investment fund management companies and general pension societies. He is also involved in advising payment institutions in their day-to-day activity, including regulatory aspects and regular commercial activity.
