He represents clients across a range of sectors, including oil and gas, mining, banking, manufacturing, retail, and transportation.

Kanat has particular expertise acting on the matters related to subsoil use contracts and production sharing agreements. He has been involved in some of the highest profile court cases and arbitrations involving Kazakhstan-based projects, including representation in Kazakhstan courts on commercial, tax, customs, environmental and other disputes, advice and representation during the successful settlement of disputes under the productions sharing agreements.

Kanat has conducted cases at all levels of the Kazakhstan courts and in domestic and international arbitration. He has also helped his clients achieve successful settlement of disputes through negotiation and mediation.
