Justin is a Partner in HFW's leading insurance practice in the Middle East. His practice area covers general commercial disputes, with specialism in insurance and reinsurance claims and policy coverage advices. He has advised a number of Middle Eastern and global insurers and facultative and treaty reinsurers, and acted for a wide range of international companies and policyholders from a variety of industries.
He also leads our Middle East cyber and data privacy team across our offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait and Riyadh.
He is well versed in commercial and (re)insurance litigation in the Courts of the Middle East and in England & Wales.
Justin is also a CEDR accredited Mediator and has conducted numerous mediations and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Justin Whelan has extensive experience assisting clients with business interruption cases. He is also noted for his handling of insurance and reinsurance litigation, with a particular focus on cybersecurity and data protection claims. He recently relocated to the Riyadh office of HFW from Abu Dhabi.
