Julia advises international and domestic investors, real estate developers, financial institutions and public-sector clients on all aspects of real estate M&A transactions, project development, real estate finance and commercial leases. She has led and acted on numerous complex and high profile transactions in the market, including Tishman Speyer on office property acquisitions in Berlin, Union Investment on large cross-border logistic portfolio deals and Vonovia on its merger with Deutsche Wohnen and on its sales of minority stakes in large housing portfolios to US investor Apollo.
Julia joined Freshfields in 2011 and became a partner in 2018.

Julia’s list of publications includes co-authoring the model Green Lease for the German real estate market as well as various articles and frequent press statements on real estate and commercial lease law. She teaches contract law and commercial lease law at European Business School (EBS) and gives regular lectures on ESG and Green Leases at International Real Estate Business School (IREBS).
Julia graduated in Law from the universities of Hannover, Germany and Stockholm, Sweden and was a visiting researcher at Harvard University. She spent her legal traineeship in Hamburg, Berlin (Federal Ministry of Justice) and Karlsruhe (Federal Constitutional Court). Julia speaks German, English and Swedish.
