Juan Manuel Rey specializes in international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. He advises leading companies on international arbitrations involving trade and investment under bilateral investment treaties. In the course of his career, he has represented clients in a wide range of disputes arising from construction and infrastructure agreements, share purchase agreements, and power concession and purchase agreements. He has participated in international arbitrations under the rules of the ICC, UNCITRAL, ICSID and the main Latin American chambers of arbitration.
Before joining Cuatrecasas, he worked as an associate at an important international law firm in Washington D.C., and later in Uruguay and Chile.
He was the Latin American regional representative at the Young Arbitrators Forum of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and also an assistant lecturer at Universidad de Montevideo (Uruguay).
He speaks regularly at conferences specializing in international arbitration.
