Career

Joseph is a partner in Bird & Bird’s Munich office, where he specialises in IP, media and sports law and is co-head of the international Media, Entertainment and Sport sector group. He has extensive experience in trade mark, design, copyright and unfair competition law and is widely recognised for his expertise in sports and sponsorship.

His practice covers the full range of contentious and non-contentious trade mark, design, media and sports law matters. His extensive forensic work includes national and multi-jurisdictional IP disputes, including cases involving infringement of Community trade marks and Community designs.

He provides strategic advice to well-known German and international companies, often developing and optimising registration and protection strategies for national and multinational trademark portfolios. He also advises on all aspects of sports and media law, including sponsorship and contracts, representing both sponsors and sponsorship recipients.
