Jonathan has a broad practice, including heavy-duty commercial litigation, arbitration, and competition cases before the Competition Appeals Tribunal and the Courts. He has considerable experience of working on big cases, in big teams, with a leader (or leaders); but is equally happy acting as sole counsel. Jonathan’s more recent commercial work has had a particular focus on banking (for example Nigeria v JP Morgan), civil fraud (for example Magomedov v TPG and Ors) and professional negligence (for example Spire and Hortensia v Withers and E20 v Allen & Overy), but he is interested in, and will happily accept instructions in, all types of commercial disputes. Jonathan also acts in several major competition matters (including the Trucks litigation, Which v Qualcomm and Gutmann v Stagecoach). Jonathan is experienced in group litigation, both under the CPR (acting for Mercedes in the NOx litigation) and under the CAT’s collective proceedings regime. He is often instructed in cases with an international element and enjoys grappling with the issues of jurisdiction and conflict of law that arise.

Jonathan is incredibly bright and excellent on paper. He works incredibly hard, so he is great to have on a big case where he does a lot of heavy lifting and analysis of huge amounts of data.
