Career

John R. Eldridge has over 40 years' experience in environmental litigation, transactional and regulatory practice, emphasizing Superfund, property contamination and toxic tort litigation. He has argued CERCLA appeals before the Fifth Circuit and tried cases in various courts. Eldridge represents buyers and sellers of contaminated properties and assists clients in assessing and addressing environmental risks associated with various business transactions. Other aspects of his practice are internal investigations, environmental crimes, enforcement defense, Clean Water Act permitting and risk based "closure" certifications. He advises clients on property and liability issues associated with oil and gas drilling and pipelines. Eldridge has long worked on pro bono and public service matters and in 2023 was named both a member of France’s National Order of Merit and a Meritorious Service Laureate by Rice University.
