Leader of the firm's private equity practice group and Vice Chair Clients and Industry, John concentrates on private investments and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts and PIPE transactions, primarily on behalf of Canadian and U.S. financial sponsors. John also spends time advising general partners and investors in the formation of private equity funds and other investment vehicles. John's clients span a variety of industries, including energy, financial services, consumer products and manufacturing.
Career
John joined Bennett Jones after spending nearly a decade in New York, where he practised corporate and U.S. tax law with a leading New York-based law firm. He is admitted to the Ontario bar, 1998; New York bar, 1999 and the Alberta bar, 2007.
Personal
John is a member of the firm's board of directors and serves on a number of corporate and not-for-profit boards. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the New York City Bar.
