Jennifer is a partner at Roper Greyell where she advises employers in all areas of labour, employment, and human rights law.

Jennifer provides strategic advice regarding the management of workplace legal issues in both unionized and non-unionized environments. Jennifer’s clients include school boards, post-secondary institutions, municipalities, health authorities, retailers, and other private corporations.

Clients can draw from Jennifer’s depth of experience. She has managed cases involving constitutional, novel, and sensitive issues, particularly those related to harassment, human rights, school law, and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Responsive, efficient, and knowledgeable, Jennifer has represented her clients before the Supreme Court of Canada, all levels of court in British Columbia, the Labour Relations Board, the Human Rights Tribunal, the Employment Standards Tribunal, and labour arbitrators.

Jennifer is also regularly retained as an independent investigator on code of conduct complaints or complex complaints of misconduct, bullying, harassment, or assault.

Jennifer is a frequent speaker and writer on a variety of labour and employment law topics, particularly in the areas of human rights and investigations.

Jennifer is currently the Ethics Commissioner for the City of New Westminster, performing advisory, investigative, and educational services to support fair and transparent governance in relation to the Council Code of Conduct Bylaw.

Outside of the office, when Jennifer isn’t watching her kids’ many sporting and other activities, she can be found indulging her love of cooking or exploring Vancouver’s restaurants.

Career

Jennifer Devins was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 2006. Prior to working at Roper Greyell, Jennifer has worked at Davis & Co (now DLA Piper) and Clerked at the BC Supreme Court.
