Jeff Bastien serves as counsel in the Employment and Labour group in Dentons’ Vancouver office.
Jeff works with employers, providing strategic and legal advice in all areas of employment, labour and human rights law. He assists employers navigate legal matters in the workplace, including related to: hiring and terminating employees, employment contracts and workplace policies, interpreting and applying employment standards, occupational health and safety compliance, human rights and the duty to accommodate, privacy, and employment issues related to restructuring and the purchase and sale of businesses.
In the litigation and dispute resolution aspect of his practice, Jeff regularly represents clients in wrongful dismissal actions, complaints related to human rights and the duty to accommodate, and civil claims for breach of restrictive covenants or post-employment obligations.
Jeff has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, various boards and tribunals in British Columbia including the Labour Relations Board, Employment Standards Tribunal, Human Rights Tribunal, and the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal, and in investigations before the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
