Javiera Medina Reza is a partner in Baker McKenzie's Mexico City office. Javiera has been practicing labor law for over 30 years. Prior to joining the Firm in January 2014, she worked as an associate in the labor and social security departments of two law firms in Mexico, and became a partner in 2012 in an international firm devoted to labor and employment matters. Javiera was an active participant in Ius Laboris, a global alliance of law firms, who provide specialized labor counsel to its clients, and the Lex Mundi Institute, Labor and Employment Practice Group. She actively participates in the Baker Women group to support and mentor women in the firm.
Javiera has been acknowledged by Chambers & Partners Latin America for her dedication and competence in labor and social security litigation, and recognized by Legal 500 Latin America as a legal advisor praised for her technical knowledge and studied opinion.
Javiera focuses her practice on labor and employment, particularly the transfer of employees in business restructuring, employment benefits, corporate compliance and ethics, employment practices audits, negotiation of termination of high-level employees data privacy, specialized services, profit sharing and labor and strategic trainings to employees on respect in the workplace to avoid harassment, violence and discrimination. Javiera has also experience on compliance investigations and with the implementation of mandatory rules NOM-035-STPS to identify and prevent work-related psychosocial risks and NOM-037-STPS related to teleworking health and safety obligations. She has actively participated in the elaboration of the Manual for the inclusion of trans people in the workplace, together with ADIL (Association of Labor Inclusion and Diversity) in 2021 and 2024 and has been a speaker on such topic in public events.
