James specialises in group litigation, competition law, and other mixed commercial work. He is frequently instructed in leading cases at the cutting edge of the law and procedure. For example, James is currently instructed as Junior Counsel for Meta in the Gormsen v Meta collective proceedings, for Jaguar Land Rover in the Pan-NOx Group Litigation, for Iveco in the Trucks opt-in collective proceedings, and for Justin Gutmann in the loyalty penalty (mobile phones) collective proceedings (currently pre-certification). James’ experience in some of the leading cases in these fields includes appearing as the advocate in his own right. As part of his competition practice, James also acts in non-collective cases and on advisory matters. James’ commercial work encompasses breach of contract, tort claims, professional liability, insurance, financial services law, and commercial judicial review.
