Personal

Ivan is the Head of Skrine’s Dispute Resolution division and co-heads the Construction and Engineering practice.

Ivan has extensive experience in various dispute resolution processes including court litigation, arbitration, and adjudication. He has particular expertise in construction, infrastructure and energy disputes, in which he frequently appears as lead counsel in high-stakes and complex matters, and is considered as “an expert in construction law” who is “very sharp and highly skilled”.

In addition to his counsel work, Ivan regularly sits as an arbitrator in both international and domestic arbitrations conducted under various rules of arbitration including the Asian International Arbitration Centre (“AIAC”), the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (“SIAC”), the International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”), and UNCITRAL. He also sits as an adjudicator under the Construction Industry Payment & Adjudication Act 2012 and as a mediator with the Malaysian Mediation Centre.

Ivan is consistently ranked as a leading practitioner by Chambers Asia Pacific, Benchmark Litigation and the Legal 500 for both dispute resolution and construction and engineering. He is the co-author of ‘Construction Adjudication in Malaysia’, which has been recognised as an authoritative text on statutory adjudication in Malaysia.
