Iván is one of the founding partners of Bertrand-Galindo Barrueto Barroilhet & Cía and heads its Natural Resources, Mining and Energy Department. He is an expert in mining and natural resources law, advising clients on the acquisition and divestment of mining companies and assets, cross-border transactions, corporate structuring, mining contracts, project financing, regulatory and environmental matters, community relations, mining property issues, due diligence processes, and mining-related litigation.

He also advises clients on all matters related to water rights, as well as on private and public tender processes.

Prior to founding the firm, he practiced as a foreign attorney at the New York office of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP (2012 - 2013).

Iván has advised a broad range of local and foreign clients in his areas of expertise, participating in some of the most relevant legal matters occurred in Chile in such fields.

Member of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada and the Chilean-German Chamber of Commerce.

Iván is and has been a professor of mining law courses at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile Law School. He has also been a researcher at the Columbia Vale Center.

He has made several publications and frequently participates in lectures and seminars concerning his practice areas.
