Career
Irene Welser is an equity partner with CERHA HEMPEL and heads the Contentions Business Department. She has practiced law for more than 25 years and has acted as an arbitrator and as counsel in more than 60 international and national arbitrations under the ICC, Vienna and UNCITRAL Rules. As of 2015, she became a board member of the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC), a position that she retains.
Irene is a passionate litigator and arbitrator and advises domestic and international clients on commercial and civil law. Irene Welser was admitted to the Vienna Bar in 1992, holds a doctorate degree and in 2003 become the youngest Honorary Professor at the University of Vienna. Furthermore, Irene is the Global Chair Emeritus of the Litigation Arbitration Dispute Resolution Section of Lex Mundi.
