Ian Mondrow is a member of the Energy Sector Group and leads Gowling WLG’s Energy Regulation and Policy practice in the firm’s Toronto office. He represents electricity generators, transmitters and distributors, natural gas shippers, competitive energy services providers and large electricity and natural gas consumers before provincial and federal regulatory forums. Ian has also advised government agencies and non-government organizations on energy policy and energy sector design and legislation in various national and international jurisdictions.

Areas of focus include: energy policy and legislation, energy regulatory policy and processes, rates and tariffs, leaves to construct, compliance and licensing.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Ian served as a special advisor to the Chair of the Ontario Energy Board and as Vice President, Government and Regulatory Affairs at a major integrated competitive energy services company.

He has also been recognized in Chambers Global, The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory and the Legal 500 Canada. Ian received the Best Lawyers ® 2020 Energy Regulatory "Lawyer of the Year" award in Toronto. He was the exclusive recipient of the 2022 Lexology Client Choice Award for Energy & Natural Resources (Canada, Ontario).
