Grant is known as a fierce advocate who applies common sense to solve complex legal and business problems. He has the ability to pierce through to the essence of disputes and lead clients to practical, cost-effective solutions.
Grant has practiced exclusively in the area of commercial litigation since the 1980’s. He has been lead counsel of record in over 130 reported decisions. He has acted for clients in complex civil actions and arbitrations related to real estate, construction, professional negligence, shareholder oppression, estates and many other business and commercial disputes. Grant has also acted as a mediator and arbitrator of civil disputes.
Grant is recognized as a leading litigation lawyer by Chambers Canada, Lexpert, Best Lawyers, Benchmark Canada and others. He has been identified by Benchmark as one of the top 50 trial lawyers in Canada each year since 2020. He was inducted into Benchmark’s Litigation Hall of Fame in 2023 and is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.
Grant has been a Bencher of the Law Society of Alberta since 2020. In that capacity he has served as Chair of the Lawyer Conduct Committee, the Credentials and Education Committee and the Practice Review Committee. He has acted as Disciplinary Tribunal Member and written several reported Decisions related to lawyer misconduct.
