Giles is an Associate Director in Control Risks’ Digital Risks team. He leads on the delivery of cyber crisis management support for the EMEA region.
Giles work focuses on complex cyber security incidents, both when Control Risks is the sole external provider during an incident or as part of a wider panel of advisors. He works with teams across Control Risks to deliver advisory, intelligence, and forensic services across all core sectors.
Recent tasks that Giles has worked on include:
Cyber incident response, including large ransomware outbreaks, operational incidents, fraud, and malicious insiders
Protection, in collaboration with physical security teams, for companies and ultra-high-net-worth-individuals against blended cyber and physical threats
Third-party onboarding and assessment project of a Global Telecoms provider
Risk assessment on a suite of business-critical applications used by an element of UK Critical National Infrastructure
European Engineering and Defence group advisory during a ransomware outbreak, with a focus on threat actor engagement
Prior to joining Control Risks, Giles was a Cyber Risk and Governance consultant at S-RM, where he worked alongside the Crisis Management Team to develop cyber crisis management exercises and respond to client breaches with a focus on regulatory compliance. In this role he also assisted clients with security control development and implementation.
Giles holds a BA in Philosophy and Theology from the University of Exeter and has completed the CompTIA Security + certification as well as the QA GDPR Practitioner’s course.
