Gerardo specialises in corporate and commercial law. He has experience representing domestic and foreign clients in international commercial transactions, M&A, financings, capital markets transactions, corporate restructurings and real estate projects. He frequently advises clients in the structuring of companies, establishment of subsidiaries and the expansion of their operations in Mexico.
Career
Gerardo joined Santos Elizondo in 2010. Prior to that, he worked as a Foreign Associate in the New York office of Paul Hastings LLP, advising international companies, financial institutions and Latin American governments in the issuance of debt and equity instruments in the financial markets, as well as various international companies in acquisitions, financings and corporate restructurings.
Professional Memberships
From 2017 to 2020, he served as a professor of Commercial Companies in the Law Department at Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM).
Personal
Gerardo has a law degree (2012) from Tecnológico de Monterrey and holds an LL.M. (2015) with a specialisation in Corporate and Financial Law from New York University School of Law. He also attended Georgetown University for Studies on Introduction to Corporate Finance and Comparative Political Systems (2010), Cornell Law School for Studies on Comparative Corporate Law and International Commercial Arbitration (2011), and Southwestern Institute for International and Comparative Law for Studies on American and international legal and business institutions, with an emphasis on American Law and process (2013).
