José Antonio is an associate in the energy practice and has more than 9 years of experience. During his career, he has focused mainly on the energy sector, its regulation and transactions, as well as real estate, financing, acquisitions and litigation matters related to that sector. José Antonio has advised on virtually all aspects of the sector, including generation, consumption, trading, retail and supply, importation and exportation, transmission and distribution, storage and resale. The foregoing has allowed him to integrally advise clients by providing an accurate vision on risks, advantages and business opportunities.

Prior to working in Santos Elizondo, José Antonio was in charge of the regulatory matters of an international law firm well-known in the energy industry, where he was part of the team advising the Energy Ministry in the implementation of the first power market rules. José Antonio is author of multiple articles in domestic and international publications on energy matters and for more than two years he has been the professor of the Bases and Principles of the Legal Framework for the Reduction of Carbon in the Energy Sector at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He was named “National Expert” by Lexology for his contribution in the Mexico Chapter of Electricity Regulation 2022.
