Career

Gene's 28 year career has included all aspects of environmental, energy and natural resources law. His environmental practice includes state and federal enforcement actions before the MDEQ, EPA, DOJ, and USACE, under state and federal laws including the CAA, CWA, OPA, RCRA, EPCRA and TSCA, as well as CERCLA and common law litigation related to environmental contamination. In addition, Gene advises clients regarding environmental compliance, permitting, due diligence, and contracting. Representative clients include interstate pipelines, natural gas storage, chemical plants, manufacturers, landfills, poultry processors, and saw mills.

Gene’s energy and natural resource practice includes all aspects of oil and gas exploration and production, including representing clients before the Mississippi Oil and Gas Board, handling oil and gas related transactions, preparing title opinions, and overseeing title curative. He has dealt with coal, bentonite, and other minerals too. Additionally, Gene has extensive experience with energy infrastructure projects such as interstate natural gas pipelines, natural gas storage facilities, power plants, and solar farms, including siting, permitting, construction and on-going operations, as well as right of way acquisition and enforcement.
