Mr. Gee Hong Kim heads the Antitrust & Competition Team at Jipyong LLC. He is an experienced trial lawyer sought after by sophisticated corporate clients for their most complex and challenging cases.
Mr. Kim specializes in competition law, securities and shareholder disputes, insurance law, construction, and international arbitration.
In April 2020, Mr. Kim was bestowed the President’s Award for remarkable contributions to Korea’s market economy and fair trade practices. He has represented the KFTC in numerous landmark decisions, the most notable being its historic decision against Qualcomm for abuse of market dominance; he subsequently succeeded in defending the KFTC’s decision against Qualcomm’s court appeals of the KFTC’s largest fine to date of KRW 280 billion (USD 250 million). His other notable successes include the acquittal of Kakao Corporation’s Chairman from antitrust charges and representation of Naver, Korea’s largest internet search engine, in the KFTC’s ongoing abuse of market dominance investigation. He has also defended the SPC Group in criminal and administrative litigations involving allegations of unfair trade practices between affiliates, and Malaysian Airlines in fuel-surcharge cartel cases.
