Career
Mr. Sung Taek Lim is one of the founding members of Jipyong and currently heads the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. He specializes in construction, real estate and private equity funds. He is renowned for his innovative problem solving skills and diverse legal experience. Mr. Lim has won several landmark intellectual property cases including the “Korea First Card” dispute between Kookmin Bank and Korea First Bank.
Mr. Lim is one of the nation’s leading practitioners on North Korea matters. He serves on the Legal Advisory Council for the Gaesong Industrial Complex and the Conflict Management Deliberation Committee under the Ministry of Unification. He is a member of the Korean Bar Association’s Unification Research Committee and a member of Korea Logistics Forum’s North Korea Policy Forum.
Mr. Lim also serves on several other advisory boards including the Statutory Interpretation Deliberation Committee under the Ministry of Government Legislation, the Policy Committee under the Ministry of Justice, the Sanction Penalty Review Committee under the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy, and the Review Committee for the Regulation of Land Use under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Mr. Lim is a current Director of Duroo, a pro bono organization sponsored by JIPYONG. Mr. Lim is well known for providing legal services and advocating for the disabled and his extensive contribution to pro bono work has been recognized year after year by various state agencies and civic groups including the Minister of Health and Welfare in 2012, the Head of National Court Administration in 2016 and the Seoul Bar Association in 2018.
