Gary Gilbert is a senior partner and master negotiator in Manatt’s Entertainment practice, representing GRAMMY-nominated, multiplatinum-selling recording artists, producers, songwriters and executives in the full gamut of transactional matters, including numerous eight-figure music-publishing catalog deals. Gary leverages his past experience as a major senior executive at Capitol Records and a former member of the Academy of Country Music’s board of directors to provide his clients a whole-industry-focused perspective—making him one of the most sought-after advisors in the music industry. Gary’s clients include some of music’s most well-known and respected artists, songwriters and producers, as well as many major music executives.

Gary is one of the industry’s national leaders on master reversion settlements, having obtained several such settlements for major iconic artists, all for significant recoveries. And over the past year, he actively negotiated numerous domestic and international catalog deals and producer royalties deals. Many of his transactions encompass the full sale of assets, including master royalties, publishing and writer royalties, and SoundExchange.
