Trial and appellate lawyer Barry Landsberg has won several first-impression cases for hospitals and nursing homes before the California Supreme Court and the California Court of Appeal and is regularly recognized as one of the nation’s preeminent health care litigators. He regularly handles hospital pricing, hospital/physician medical staff and religious freedom cases for faith-based hospitals that have produced favorable decisions for hospitals in the trial courts, the Court of Appeal and the California Supreme Court. He has argued seven California Supreme Court cases.
Barry represents some of the nation’s largest hospital systems and long-term care providers in a wide variety of cases and appeals arising under the Unfair Competition Law, the Consumer Legal Remedies Act, the anti-kickback statutes, the False Claims Act, and the state and federal Constitutions, as well as commercial contract and business torts matters. Barry also has helped to materially change California case law with several recent decisions in favor of hospital and nursing home clients.
He is a frequent author and lecturer on California hospital law, the Unfair Competition Law and other health law litigation developments.
