Gabriel has over 30 years’ experience as a Personal Injury (PI) and Inquest/Coronial Law specialist and is ranked in both in the Chambers UK Bar Guide.
He is known for his approachability and pragmatism. He headed the Guildhall PI team for over a decade and is the most senior member of Guildhall’s Inquests team
His experience includes representation at all levels including the Divisional Court and Court of Appeal. His cases often include KC opponents. His Personal Injury (PI) caseload generally comprises catastrophic or large loss cases spanning fatal accidents, road traffic accidents, Motor Insurers’ Bureau claims, occupier/public liability claims, cases of post-accident Clinical Negligence or involving technical factual issues.
In the first half of 2025, he has concluded cases (claiming and defending) with a combined value of over £17M.
He has longstanding experience in inquest cases having undertaken Treasury Panel work for various government agencies and has been instructed in a number of high-profile inquests including cases involving unlawful killing, police involvement and other long complex Art 2 enquiries.
He is regularly instructed to act as counsel to the inquest (where he acts for the coroner) in complex long-running enquiries usually involve deaths of young adults with police, local authority or healthcare involvement where there are multiple interested parties and KC instruction.
He regularly acts for care homes or employers in inquests and brings to bear his additional personal injury litigation expertise in the fields of medicine and Fatal Accidents Act claims, where he enjoys a Band 1 ranking.
