Fernand de Visscher

Fernand de Visscher is a “highly respected presence” in intellectual property in Belgium and a senior partner in Simont Braun IP department. Fernand is one of Belgium’s leading patent litigators. He handles the most complex questions relating to patents, the protection of designs, and artistic and literary works.

He also gathered broad experience in media law, distribution (dealerships, franchises, etc.), computer science, the Internet, domain names, IP transactional work and competition law.

Fernand advises national and international clients in these areas. He also assists clients in all their disputes before Belgian and international courts, and in negotiation, mediation, and national and internal arbitration.

Fernand is recognised for his strong understanding of the most technical fields and sectors (engineering, pharmaceuticals, etc.), and for his savvy legal knowledge of all IP fields but also in civil law, competition law, distribution and IP transactional work (licences, R&D).

Fernand de Visscher has been appointed by the Belgian FPS Economy as President of the Industrial Property section of the Council for Intellectual Property.

He is a third-party decider in the Belgian domain names dispute resolution scheme (DNS.be and CEPANI).

He is a member of the AIPPI and a former president of the Belgian group.
