Felipe Palhares is a partner in BMA's Data Privacy and Cybersecurity, and Technology and Digital Businesses practices. He has extensive experience assisting local and international companies in strategic matters that involve the processing of personal data, in managing the response to data breaches and ransomware attacks, and in dealing with regulators. He is admitted to practice law in Brazil and in the New York State.
Felipe regularly advises clients in designing privacy programs, assists companies on data privacy matters during the development of new products and provides support in the response to security incidents. He acted for companies in the crisis management of some of the most relevant ransomware attacks that occurred in Brazil in the recent years.
He also has extensive experience in litigation, acting for clients from a wide variety of sectors, such as technology, gaming, payments and entertainment.
Felipe is the only individual in the world to have earned all current certifications and designations issued by the IAPP, and also holds data protection certifications from ISACA and Maastricht University. He is frequently recommended in data protection rankings from legal publications and was recognized as one of the 40 brightest data protection lawyers under 40 in 2021.
