Emma Jones

Emma trained at Scott-Moncrieff, Harbour and Sinclair and Leigh Day. On qualification, she remained at Leigh Day for a few years before moving to take up the position of Head of Legal at Mind.

Returning to Leigh Day in 2009, Emma started work on the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Inquiry working with the organisation Cure the NHS. Whilst working on the inquiry, Emma developed a group and individual claim practice, running cases using the Human Rights Act and in negligence against various defendants, including NHS Trusts that were consistently failing.

Emma became a Partner at Leigh Day in 2016. She started working with Contaminated Blood Community, specifically investigating an Equality Act claim arising out of the unequal financial support payments to HCV sufferers, which is lower than the payment to HIV sufferers. From 2017, Emma has represented over 350 individuals as core participants at the Infected Blood Inquiry. Emma in also instructed in the Undercover Policing Inquiry and is instructed to apply for core participant status in the Covid-19 Inquiry.

Although an Inquiry specialist, Emma maintains a litigation practice and represents families at inquests – primarily inquests in which Article 2 is engaged.
