Emily is a family specialist and Deputy Head of the Family Team at Broadway House.
She has a strong practice in all areas of family law, and has particular strength and expertise in matrimonial finance. Emily is highly sought after and well respected in this field. She regularly appears in difficult and complex cases involving business structures, pensions, farming assets, insolvency and bankruptcy, and trusts. Emily’s practice also encompasses property disputes between cohabitants, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependants) Act 1975 and applications pursuant to Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989. Emily also embraces ADR and is a private FDR practitioner. In the private children law arena Emily often appears in cases where the issues include intractable hostility, parental alienation and internal and international relocation. In the public law sphere Emily is instructed in complex proceedings involving serious allegations of abuse or injury, wardship and forced marriage. She also has a growing practice in adoption cases following her appearance in W (A Child)  EWCA Civ 793. Emily has an eye for detail and is highly regarded for her legal knowledge and sound judgment. She has a kind manner with clients, makes them feel at ease and adopts a sensible, pragmatic approach to cases. Emily is also a legal commentator and sits a deputy district judge, including in private children and finance cases.
