Doug Kubehl is Baker Botts’ firmwide co-chair of its patent litigation practice. He is a first-chair trial lawyer with thirty years of experience handling complex patent litigation and licensing throughout the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Mr. Kubehl has conducted over 200 patent cases, earning jury verdicts for both patent holders and defendants, as well as securing over 20 summary judgment rulings of non-infringement. Last year Doug led teams defeating $1 Billion in damages claims in cases against our clients.
Doug holds a dual electrical and computer engineering degree and excels at turning immensely complex technology issues into understandable and persuasive summary judgment and trial narratives. Doug has litigated telecommunications, semiconductor, electronics, security, and cloud computing standard essential patent issues for decades. That experience, coupled with the firm’s deep expertise in energy technology, has positioned Doug and the firm’s patent litigation practice ideally to excel in today’s cases involving automotive, battery, solar, and data center technologies.
Outside of the courtroom Mr. Kubehl has significant licensing and technology transaction experience.
