Practice Areas
Denny Rahmansyah is the head of SSEK's construction and real estate/property practice and has extensive experience assisting clients with property acquisitions, hospitality projects (including hotels and villas), office building leases and developments, and industrial property developments.
His practice also includes banking and finance, compliance (anti-corruption and anti-bribery), cross-border debt restructurings, foreign investment, M&A, mining, carbon trading and green energy, plantations and forestry, and TMT (including data protection and privacy, fintech and e-commerce).
Career
Denny joined SSEK in 2001 from another prominent law firm in Jakarta, where he worked mostly in acquisitions and debt restructuring matters. Denny leads SSEK's construction and real estate/property practice and regularly acts for multinationals and domestic clients in all aspects of property acquisitions and developments.
Outside the real estate and property sector, Denny regularly advises clients in the TMT space, including on cryptocurrency and data protection and data privacy matters, and the establishment of fintech and e-commerce companies and their registration with the relevant authorities including the Ministry of Communications and Informatics and the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti). Denny represents clients with the establishment of foreign investment (PMA) companies, representative offices and branch offices in Indonesia, liaising with notaries and the relevant authorities for licensing matters, and advising on all the procedures and requirements under Indonesian law.

Work Highlights
• Acting as Indonesian counsel for Tokushukai Medical Group, the largest medical services group in Japan and one of the largest medical services groups in the world, which has provided financing of Japanese yen (JPY) 10 billion to develop with Indonesia’s Harapan Kita Hospital a groundbreaking cardiovascular center in Jakarta, which will be named the Harapan Kita-Tokushukai Cardiovascular Center.
• Represented Samanea Group in the development of the integrated One-Stop O20 Regional Wholesale Trade City, consisting of the first and most comprehensive wholesale center in Indonesia and warehousing, hotel, shopping center, small office/home office, apartment and office spaces.
• Assisted luxury boutique hotel brand Ovolo Group with the acquisition of a resort hotel in Bali, the group’s first property outside of Hong Kong and Australia.
• Acted for China Fortune Land Development (CFLD) in the acquisition of approximately 280 hectares of land in West Java in connection with a CFLD project to develop a new industrial city.
• Assisted MNC Land in its collaboration with The Trump Organization on the “Trump Residences Indonesia,” two ultra-luxury integrated developments in Bali and Lido, Bogor. SSEK was the only Indonesian law firm appointed to work on the projects.
• Acted for leading Malaysian plantation company TSH Resources Berhad as the seller in a US$110.1 million Indonesian landbank transaction.
• Assisting clients with property acquisitions, hospitality projects (including hotels and villas), office building leases and developments, and industrial property developments, including handling overlapping issues in connection with forestry and plantation matters.
• Acted as Indonesian counsel, assisted London-based media company Moonbug Entertainment with the acquisition of Singapore-based media company and production studio One Animation. Moonbug Entertainment is a subsidiary of Candle Media, a media entity backed by private equity firm Blackstone. One Animation is behind children’s animated shows Oddbods, Antiks, Insectibles and Rob the Robot, among others. Oddbods is broadcast in more than 180 countries and is a three-time Emmy Award nominee.
