Daren Shiau, BBM, PBM, is Partner at Allen & Gledhill LLP where he trained at in 1996, and is currently Co-Head of the Firm’s Corporate & Commercial Department.
A pioneering regional competition law and foreign investments specialist in Singapore and ASEAN, he is concurrently Regional Co-Head of the Firm’s Competition & Foreign Investment Review Practice. His advises on the entire remit of competition law including antitrust litigation, international cartels, monopolies and dominance, foreign investment screening, and global merger control.
Daren has been globally recognised as the senior statesman of Singapore’s competition bar. Chambers Asia-Pacific names Daren as “Singapore’s top competition lawyer”. He is the first and only Singapore competition lawyer to be ranked by the publication as ‘Eminent Practitioner’.
On Singapore’s newly introduced omnibus foreign investment control laws, Daren is the only Singapore lawyer named Global Elite Thought Leader by Lexology Index: Foreign Investment Control.
Daren has been a lead advisor in a predominant majority of Singapore’s merger control cases (including all complex Phase 2 Reviews), successfully represented appellants in a watershed Competition Appeal Board matter which overturned the Singapore competition agency’s decision on liability, and successfully defended parties in 100% of Singapore’s international cartel decisions to-date.
