Cory Barnes

Cory Barnes’ practice is litigation focused, working across a range of commercial and environmental disputes. For 2026, he was recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® “Ones to Watch” for Litigation – Environmental and Environmental Law.

Cory also regularly works on major wildland fire cases. He has first chair experience in almost every phase of a case and has been a member of multiple successful trial teams.

When not in the courtroom, Cory assists clients with permitting under the Clean Water Act and helps clients obtain no-hazard determinations from the Federal Aviation Administration for major site developments. Prior to joining BakerHostetler, Cory completed federal externships at both the trial and appellate court levels, and worked in commercial real estate where he advised clients on zoning, land use and regulatory matters.
