Chris has a national and international practice representing clients in civil (including citizens suits) and criminal enforcement, litigation, compliance counseling, emergency response, and legislative and regulatory advocacy under the all the major environmental, health, safety and natural resource laws. He conducts internal investigations and recently served as the independent monitor in a complex criminal enforcement case.
He assists buyers, sellers and financial institutions on the environmental aspects of all types of transactions, including renewable and carbon-based energy, manufacturing, commercial real estate, and brownfields. He also works on the cleanup of contaminated sites and represents clients in related litigation.
Chris helps clients evaluate, improve and implement compliance and ethics programs and environmental, health and safety management systems (including ISO 14001-based EMS), and advises clients on sustainable development, ESG, climate change, product and chemical stewardship and regulation, and value chain management. He is experienced with international matters and has over 20 years of experience negotiating international environmental standards (including ISO 14001) and standards on nanotechnologies and other products.
