Practice Areas

Chris Costello is a partner in Kirkland’s Los Angeles office, where he advises clients on electronic discovery, international data privacy, cross-border discovery issues, and information governance issues. He brings an in-depth understanding of his client’s information governance and litigation needs to each matter and helps clients design defensible, repeatable solutions that reduce clients’ overall risks while finding cost effective solutions to the many challenges they face. Chris has significant experience prosecuting and defending spoliation claims and was involved in the efforts that culminated in the 2015 Amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. He is a frequent speaker on e-discovery and privacy matters and has authored numerous articles on those topics. Chris has represented a wide variety of clients in complex commercial litigation and has successfully resolved cases in both federal and state courts

Chris is a core member of Kirkland’s E-Discovery Team and was recognized in 2022-2023 by Chambers Global and and 2021-2022 by Chambers USA for his significant contributions to E-Discovery and Information Governance.
