Practice Areas

Christian is the head of the Germany finance division and a global co-head of innovation. He specialises in debt capital markets and structured finance with focus on Schuldschein loans and German registered bonds (Namensschuldverschreibungen), OTC derivatives covering all asset classes, repackaging, securitisation, repo and securities lending, as well as hybrid instruments such as exchangeables and convertibles. He also advises on the establishment and update of EMTN programmes and structured note programmes.

He also advises on the establishment and update of debt issuance programmes aimed at institutional investors as well as retail structured platforms.

Career

Christian is admitted as both a German lawyer and an English solicitor.

He joined Linklaters in 2003 and was elected to the partnership in 2013.

Christian is a member of the drafting commission of the Loan Market Association, a legal expert for the German Derivatives Association (Deutscher Derivateverband) and is a part of the investment committee of the main incubator (the R&D unit of Commerzbank). In addition, he is a regular speaker at conferences organised by Deutsches Aktieninstitut), the German Investor Relations Association, ISDA, Euromoney, Financial Times, the Blockchain Centre of Frankfurt School as well as the Center for Legal Tech of Bucerius Law School.
