Practice Areas

Chisuwo Hamwela’s practice focuses on corporate and commercial law, commercial dispute resolution, banking and finance, tax, real estate and conveyancing, and insolvency. He has participated in landmark cases in the areas of competition, defamation, estates and employment. Chisuwo led the team on the case involving the liquidation of a leading Newspaper in Zambia, which saw the Supreme Court, the highest Court in Zambia, overturn the liquidation. Chisuwo has played a key role in getting favourable outcomes on behalf of leading banks in Zambia, which resulted in huge savings for the banks. Chisuwo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) and a Master's in Commercial Law from both from the University of Zambia. He has practised for over 10 years post-admission to the Zambian Bar. Chisuwo is a consummate legal problem solver and is described by clients as having the ability to find solutions to near-impossible problems.

Chisuwo is also an expert in personal injury and fatal accident claims which he handles generally on a pro-bono basis as part of the firm’s Giving-Back Policy, which Policy aims to provide impactful legal services to the less privileged in society.
