Carlos Torres

Carlos Torres Salinas is a senior associate at CorralRosales. He has over 7 years of experience representing local and international clients in various areas, including Energy and Natural Resources, Environmental Law, Dispute Resolution, Corporate, M&A, Compliance, and Sustainability.

In the field of Energy and Natural Resources, he provides advice on mining, energy-related issues, project acquisitions, exploration and exploitation of natural resources, as well as all industry-specific regulatory matters. Throughout his professional career, he has held managerial and leadership positions in legal teams of mining companies, with a notable role as the head negotiator in the third large-scale metallic mining exploitation contract in Ecuador.

In the area of Dispute Resolution, Carlos has advised various companies in developing strategies for the prevention and resolution of disputes, both in administrative proceedings and in arbitration and constitutional processes. Additionally, he was part of the Chaffetz Lindsey law firm in New York, where he collaborated in planning and defending investors in Investment Treaty arbitrations, both in claims against sovereign states and in their defense.

In addition to his professional practice, Carlos complements his academic work as the coordinator and professor of the Renewable and Non-Renewable Resources Law Diploma at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito and as a member of legal and energy committees of some business chambers.

Carlos is a graduate of the Universidad San Francisco de Quito and holds a master’s degree in International Litigation and Arbitration from the same institution.
