Practice Areas

Bettina is an employment and education lawyer advising universities and colleges on a range of operational and strategic issues.

She has over fifteen years’ experience as an employment and education lawyer. She has a particular interest in equality, diversity and inclusion and discrimination claims and regularly delivers training to Boards of Directors, Governing Bodies and Senior Management Teams. She has been recommended as a Leader in her field in Chambers UK where she is described as "approachable, well informed and highly professional."

Bettina is an ADR Group accredited mediator and has mediated a wide range of employment and education matters.

She has been a regular presenter at higher education sector conferences including presenting workshops at Universities HR (UHR) annual conferences and speaking on support for disabled students. She regularly writes articles and briefings for HE sector publications including University Business.


Bettina was a Member of the Council of the University of Exeter for 9 years where she was the dual assurance lay lead for HR and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and worked closely with the teams involved in obtaining accreditation with Athena Swan and the HE equality charters.
